The very fact that you reached this page means that you are alive, life is throbbing inside you and grace is functioning upon you. Be thankful for whatever you have today. You never know what the next moment has in store for you. Whether you experience something bad, worst or good – know that it is just an experience. There is nothing as good or bad. We divide things into this and that. We are the ones who label the situation as good or bad.

Just because you faced something that you did not like or enjoy, you termed it as bad. If you like something you term it is a good experience. Since you did not like a particular experience, you get frustrated, agitated, sad or depressed. If you like a particular experience, you feel joyful, blissful, excited and happy.

Every situation or experience in life shapes you into the person you are today. Every experience in life is an opportunity to choose between being depressed or joyful. Let’s look at 5 Ways To Turn The Worst Day Of Your Life Into The Best.

#1: Accept The Situation / Experience

This is the most important part of the challenging situation. Instead of crying over it, abusing yourself and other, questioning god – why am I suffering, blaming others – why did you do this to me, and so on. Whatever happened cannot be reversed. Anger will not help you settle down. But the moment you accept that – okay now that this has happened, what next. This will help you come out of the situation faster.

#2: Be A Part Of The Solution And Not The Problem

Every time we want things to happen our way. When it does not happen our way, we keep cribbing and complaining that it is the worst thing to happen. Instead of complaining, make yourself in a way that you turn your attention to finding out the solution and not cribbing about the problem.

#3: Don’t Expect / Let Your Problems Go

You must have heard others tell you or even you must have said this to yourself “If you can’t find a solution to a problem, let it go, surrender.” Do you really think this approach will help you solve the problem or get away from it? May be temporarily! You may let it go for that particular moment, but the problem may not let you go.

Say for example – you just received your exam timetable. You have your University exams coming up in the next 4 months and you consider this as a big headache or problem. After hearing and seeing your exam table, all of a sudden the day turns as the worst day for you. Why, because you expect that without studying or studying with minimum effort, you should be able to clear the exams. Do you think that this kind of a thought process with help you clear your exam? No for sure, that’s not going to help you.

Instead, you should be thankful that you received your exam timetable well in advance. This gives you enough time to plan or work out the strategy to score better grades. Let go will not help. Exams will still take place whether you appear for them or not.

#4: Fix Your Inside And Not The Outside

The challenge today is that everyone is pointing fingers to the other person but we never point that finger to ourselves. You want to change your boss, your friends, your environment, your children and the list goes on.

Do we really look inside us and see what is it? Outside situations and people are not in our control but our inside situation is in our control. The only person you can change is YOU. If we change the inside and don’t get disturbed by the outside, we will start finding solutions and feel more blissful.

#5: Challenging Situation Makes You Look At Alternatives

If everything is going well or as per us, then there is no way you would even try to look at ways to improve the scenario. Because you found the situation challenging, you start looking for alternatives to simplify it or accelerate it.

This will help you in improving yourself and knowing the areas where you lack something or it can be even areas where you are strong. The Wright Brothers are generally credited with inventing, building and flying the world’s first successful airplane. Though the record flight lasted 59 seconds over a distance of 852 feet, it did not disappoint them. This itself was a great invention and success.

They kept working on it. Many more people, research and technology involved and today we have reached the Moon and Mars.

Here is a beautiful quote by Sadhguru:

If you are “bad,” will the air refuse to give you oxygen, will flowers refuse to bloom for you, or will the sun refuse to give its warmth? Will food refuse to give its nourishment? When the creation itself is not making any distinction between good and bad, who are you to sit in judgment? – Sadhguru

There are many more ways you can add to your list. But the above 5 ways will help you get the shift and move towards the solution. Don’t forget action is the most important thing. If you do not take action on your points, then no one can help you come out of the situation.
