10 Tips To Stay Mentally Healthy

One of the most important aspect of life is to stay healthy. Eating the right kind of food, staying fit physically, and mentally plays an important.

Let’s look at the 10 ways that can help you stay mentally fit:

1. Reading

Reading books, eBooks, articles, solving puzzle and playing mind games is a good way to keep the mind alert. It helps you keep engaged. It helps you to develop your personality too, automatically leading to higher confidence levels.

2. Writing

Like reading, writing is another way to keep yourself alert and focused. If you like to journal or write diaries… go ahead and do it. Expressing yourself by writing is a wonderful way to do so. If you do not like to journal, you can write your daily affirmations. By writing your affirmations daily, it will not only allow you to be focused and alert but also help you in achieving what you want or your targets.

3. Connect with people

Connect with people, socialize and strengthen your relationships. Connect with people who help you enrich your life and encourage you. Make time for close friends and family. Share with them the things that you like to do. Going out for movies, theatre, plays, cultural programs, song and dance performances, games etc..

Express yourself and try to understand others too. Maintaining good relationships and connect in life is important. They will have a direct impact on your mental and emotional health. Putting time and effort into building strong relationships can be very helpful in the long run.

4. Fuel your passion

This itself is a powerful line. Isn’t it? Sit down and talk to yourself. Find out what you are passionate about. If you already know the answers, then work towards it. Gain momentum. Take steps to work on it or move towards it. Observe yourself. The moment you work on or even talk about things that you are passionate about – your expression changes. You feel happy and excited about it. You feel energized and charged…. Go ahead… Connect with yourself and fuel your passion.

5. Understand your emotions

Yes, I mean it. Talk to yourself. You are your own best friend. Understand your emotions… are you happy or sad. Do you get stressed out easily? Are you feeling lonely? Don’t beat yourself. Enroll in some club (laughter club, happiness programs) or meditation classes. This will help you increase your happiness quotient as well as understanding yourself better. Only when you are able to understand yourself better, you would be able to understand others too.

6. Give back to the community

Yes, this is a powerful one. Learn to get involved and give back to the community or society. There are lot of NGO’s who do a lot of charity work. Extend a helping hand to them. If not, go and do some service in “Old Age homes”, donate money, spend some time with children in the orphanage. Spread happiness. When you spread happiness, you will receive happiness. You will have no idea about the satisfaction, love and affection you will receive from people till the time you actually experience this.

7. Seek help

Ask for help whenever you feel stuck in life. Talk to people, ask for help. Only when you ask for help, people would know that you need it.

8. Forgive and let go

This may sound irritating to you if you are angry, frustrated, unhappy. Still, learn to forgive people and let go your past experiences. Don’t carry any extra baggage.

9. Stay healthy and fit

Take care of yourself. Stay fit. Exercise daily. Physical and mental health are closely linked to each other. If you don’t stay fit and exercise – you will feel drained out every now and then. Staying fit not only increases your physical fitness but also adds to your confidence levels and increasing your energy levels… :)

10. Rest well

Rest and recharging yourself plays an important role in our lives. Sleep well and take regular breaks even during the day. Keep aside some time for yourself where you don’t indulge in any activity. You just relax and do nothing whether it is while sipping your cup of tea or you just sit in the garden admiring the trees and flowers.
